As the number COVID-19 virus cases continues to increase, the State of Michigan has continued to evolve their recommendations on which veterinary services we can safely provide. Both limiting person to person contact and preserving personal protective equipment for human medical personnel are the driving factors for needing to limit veterinary care.
At this time, we will remain open for emergency care and public welfare appointments only. The following are examples of what types of cases we can see and what will have to be postponed until restrictions are lifted.
We can see your pet if
They are seriously ill or injured
They are due for a vaccination for a disease that is communicable to humans (Rabies or Leptospirosis)
They need continued treatments/monitoring to maintain life (fluids for renal patients, some diabetic monitoring)
In need of life saving surgery
We will have to postpone care for
Annual physical exams and vaccinations (if not due for Rabies or Leptospirosis)
Physical rehabilitation and hydrotherapy
Routine surgeries such as spays, neuters and routine dental cleanings.
We want you to know that we are still here for you and your pets. We will continue to refill medications either through our online store or through curbside checkout at our clinic. We are looking into options of remote consultation to handle the minor issues that may arise with your pet. We will let you know when this is operational and will likely give that information out as needed based on information we receive from you by phone.
We strongly recommend that you keep your pets up to date on heartworm and flea/tick preventives and any supplements or medications they are currently taking.
Due to reduced staff during this time, we have had to adjust our hours. We are currently open Monday - Thursday from 8am to 5pm. We will be closed on Fridays until the restrictions are lifted and we can see all appointments again.
We may also not always be able to answer the phone right when it rings. If you are calling during business hours, please call the main phone number of 989-793-8728 and leave a message on our machine. We will call back as soon as possible. You may have our other lines saved on cell phones, etc. as we try to make all outgoing calls from our other lines as they do not ring in to the answering machine. Please update your quick contact with the main number. If that one is busy, it will automatically shift to an accessory line, but that does not work the other way.
We know this is a challenging time for everyone. We want to make sure we can still take care of your pets while keeping you and our staff safe. If you do have to bring your pet in for an appointment, you will not be able to accompany them into the clinic. Please plan to call us from the parking lot when you arrive. We will obtain history by phone. You will then meet us in our entryway to hand off your pet to our staff. We will perform an exam and the services that are needed and then call by phone to discuss their health and any further recommendations. You will then be checked out by phone and we will meet you back in the entry way to collect your pet.
We will keep you updated as recommendations change. Hopefully we will be able to resume normal appointments soon. In the meantime, please do no hesitate to call to discuss any questions or concerns you have about your pet.
